The Casino is a hollow body and has P90 pickups, however a couple of people have strongly recommended Humbuckers over single coils in terms of getting the type of sound I want. The Artcore has Super 58 Custom Humbuckers, and the Dot has Alnico Classic Humbuckers. The Dot and the Artcore seem to be fairly similar from what I can tell being semi-hollowbody guitars, but at the same time I don't know enough to be able to really compare the two. I know the lovely reverby sound obviously done with pedals, but I'd love to know where to start in getting some gear that would be able to produce that sort of sound.įrom my research, it seems that what I'm looking for is a nice clean guitar, a tube amp with a good amount of headroom, and a nice array of effects pedals.Īfter looking around at guitars, I've ended up with three possibilities. It then transitions into this beautifully clean tone at about 1:13, and this is almost exactly the sound I want. In this (absolutely lovely) song, the guitarist at the back has this absolutely beautiful slow attack, sustainy sound that I just adore. With that, I'm looking at getting a new guitar that suits me to replace my Squier Strat, and I'm also looking at getting something that can produce a specific type of sound. I've been looking at improving with the Guitar beyond basic chords, but my focus is mostly on getting certain sounds for my music rather than playing face melting solos or whatever. I'm the type of musician who will pick up a huge variety of different instruments just to try and get a specific sound I'm looking for, and I tend to be able to take to different instruments quickly. Most of my skill revolves around synths and keyboards, but I have a very good ear for music. I'm a fairly novice guitar player, and not particularly knowledgable in terms of specific gear.
